Photo of the month?
I believe digital cameras are one of the 20th century's coolest inventions! You can take lots and lots of pictures and choose the best one without having to shell out money to get them ALL developed and then discovering that they all suck. And with the advent of fairly decent cell phone cameras, we're seldom without a way to take advantage of that totally unexpected photo op. You just never know when Neil Diamond may be walking down the street toward you and how frustrating would that be to NOT have a camera??
We'll post a new picture on this page weekly (more or less) - hopefully something that will make you smile! But the majority of our photos will be grouped by location and/or date in the drop-down menu under 'Photo Gallery' at the top of this page. We're working on moving over the photos from our old website home to this one, so those galleries will be expanding!

Yellowstone National Park

We visited Yellowstone National Park this week - this encounter with a bull elk had to be the high point for me! He was amazing, majestic, awe-inspiring...and he posed for all the cameras clicking away like crazy.
More pictures of the animals we saw in in park here.

It's been a year since we saw our grandsons - and when you go from 2 to 3 years old in that year, you change a lot! Jack was barely talking coherently last May and now he chatters ALL the time. He and grandpa have been having a great time getting to know each other again.

Springtime in Jacksonville, OR

Among the items we'll be leaving at Mike's mom's house while we travel to Alaska are a couple of guns - a 9mm pistol and a 22 rifle. I don't know the history of the pistol, but the 22 was Mike's first gun (or something like that).
Before he wrapped them all up and stowed them away, I talked Mike into taking me out in the boonies to play Annie Oakley. It has been a LONG time since I shot a gun - I'm fairly certain I haven't done that since my police dispatcher days over 30 years ago. But I do remember it being fun and wanted to try again. (Although I will admit that part of the fun is getting to go out with a handsome guy and have them show you how to hold the gun...heh heh...)
We didn't get to shoot the 22 - needs some more repairs - but we quickly used up the 50 rounds of ammunition Mike bought for the 9mm. And even though I'd forgotten how much NOISE they make, it was great fun!! I really wasn't sure if I'd be able to hit the target at all, but I managed to hit the bulls eye. And I did it TWICE, so no - it wasn't beginners luck! ;-)
We used up a few targets, but here's a picture of the first one. I should have taken a picture before we ripped up the rest of it with our later shots, but you can still see the holes in that black area. I wish bullets weren't so expensive - would love to do that again!
